How the Cylinder Volume Formula Works
The volume of a right circular cylinder equals the area of its base multiplied by its height. The base area is π × radius², so the full formula becomes Volume = π × radius² × height. The resulting volume is always in cubic units (cm³, m³, in³, ft³, etc.).

Imagine a water storage drum with a radius of 4.5 cm and a height of 12 cm. Plugging into the formula gives a base area of π × 4.5² ≈ 63.62 cm².
