Determine your body silhouette based on your specific measurements.
Understanding Body Shapes
Your body shape is primarily determined by your skeletal structure and the distribution of muscle and fat. While every body is unique, most silhouettes fall into five main categories based on the ratio between the bust, waist, and hips.
The Primary Body Shapes
- Hourglass: Your bust and hips are approximately the same size, with a very defined waistline (usually at least 8-10 inches smaller than the bust and hips).
- Pear (Triangle): Your hips are significantly wider than your bust. You likely have narrow shoulders and a well-defined waist.
- Inverted Triangle: Your bust or shoulders are significantly wider than your hips. This shape often features athletic legs and a less defined waist.
- Rectangle: Your bust, waist, and hips are fairly uniform in size. There is very little curve at the waistline.
- Apple (Oval): Your waist measurement is larger than or roughly equal to your bust and hips. Weight is often carried in the midsection.
How to Measure Correctly
For the most accurate results, use a flexible tape measure and wear thin clothing or undergarments.
- Bust: Measure around the fullest part of your chest.
- Waist: Measure around the narrowest part of your natural waist (usually just above the belly button).
- High Hip: Measure the top of your hip bones.
- Hips: Measure around the fullest part of your buttocks/hips.
