Cumulative GPA Calculator
This specialized cumulative GPA calculator helps students understand how new coursework influences their overall academic standing. By combining current GPA data with the credit hours and grades from the most recent term, you can see how much a strong finish or a challenging semester will shift your cumulative performance. The calculation multiplies each GPA by its corresponding credit hours, sums the total grade points, and divides by the total credits earned. Enter realistic values for your current GPA, total completed credits, the GPA from the latest term, and its credit load to generate an accurate cumulative GPA projection.
How the Formula Works
Suppose a student has a current cumulative GPA of 3.25 over 60 completed credits. During the latest semester, the student earned a 3.80 GPA across 15 credit hours. Multiply 3.25 × 60 to get 195 prior grade points and 3.80 × 15 to get 57 new grade points. Add them for 252 total grade points and divide by the combined 75 credits to obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.36. This demonstrates how a high-performing term can nudge the overall average upward.
